Teaching and Learning ‘The John Kyrle Way’
At John Kyrle, we strive to give all our learners access to powerful knowledge, giving them the excellent outcomes and experiences that will give them the best chances in life.
Our Teaching and Learning policy, ‘The John Kyrle Way’ has been created from robust educational research and practical wisdom on what supports students to learn most effectively. We are at a fascinating point in educational history when we have more access to the latest developments in cognitive science than ever before and at John Kyrle we strive to be at the forefront of this understanding of the science of how children learn – developing excellence in teaching practice within our school, trust and local community. We are a team of teachers who are excited about teaching and learning!
8 of our teachers who recently spent their Saturday at ResearchEd where world leaders in evidence-informed teaching practices shared their expertise.
‘The John Kyrle Way’ includes a strong foundation of 6 core principles and routines that are seen in all our classrooms. At the heart of these is relationships and engagement because positive relationships with our learners are at the heart of inclusive teaching.
