Since September, during lessons, and in Assemblies with Mr Griffiths, students in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 have been discussing what it means to be British. As part of this we have also had an election for each year group to decide who we believe to be the most influential, Briton. Each tutor group discussed their chosen individual and made presentations to support their choice. Selections included Sir Isaac Newton and even Wayne Rooney!
After all the presentations, year groups voted on whom they believed was the best. The votes were counted and the top two candidates selected. Mr Griffiths had actually met one of the two winners when the school hosted a visit in 2003. This was of course Queen Elizabeth II. The other winner of the most votes for greatest Briton was former Prime Minister and war-time leader, Sir Winston Churchill.
